Feel free to contact us on contact@ohmforce.com explaining what are your needs, we'll be ready to help.
Ohm Force origins
Ohm Force was founded in 2000 because we felt the world lacked a good fast-food company. The idea was simple: make good sandwiches - good looking and tasty - then sell them on the Internet. We even used to have a sandwich store sign over our office's front door (see picture).
That how everything began. Being French, we know what food is all about. So we were confident in our unstoppable success. But after the first few R&D months, internal dissension was going wild. Some of us were pushing for a pasta and tomato mushroom burger, while others were looking into turning kittens into subs. The latter idea quickly appeared to be impractical because of the lack of available raw materials, and the only kittens we've caught have been quickly adopted by the OhmMen. The aftermaths spelled D.O.O.M in wild crimson letters scorching the sky. Yet, did we quit Nope.
As we have been all working on our resumés to apply to a well known fast-food chain (MacCatBurger, anyone?), we've noticed that many of us used to have an experience in software design and some others had even designed application GUIs. Heck! So why not make audio plugins ? While keeping the same gastronomic way of think we then started developing the OhmBoyz. Which has been the very first of a long series.
Ohm Force mindset
Not only Ohm Force has given its contribution to the music scene with our freeware Frohmage filter, since 2002 we introduced the free Standalone versions of our plug-ins, in addition of the traditional time-limited demo versions. The standalone versions are supposed to be cool toys and a nice way to test in-depth each plug-in's features. No need to say we're completely in the ?tForce's plug-ins are:
- Creativity. This is software, not hardware. Computers are powerful and cheap. The user interface of a computer it's not supposed look as a hardware rack. We can do in software insanely complex stuff, that can't be done in hardware. Hence we do.
- Ease of use. Not every musician is a PhD in Computer Science. We want our customers to understand how our plugins work and quickly have fun (then be productive).
- Eye candy. Do you like good looking software ? So do we. In a mix of great artwork and comfortable controls, Ohm Force products are designed to be used in tough situations (do you play live ? you know what we mean).
- Customer support. We, Ohm Men, are also clients and buy stuff online. So we have an idea of what customer service should be like and do our best to reach this ideal.
- Sound quality. All the above mentioned aspects would be useless to you without a really good audio processing. Eversituation.
The Ohmen
If you are still reading, you might now wonder exactly who is Ohm Force. Here are the names and respective secret identities:
Charles Françoise Azure Force
Developer. Responsible for the tough task of making the audio cores and user interfaces 'communicate' seamlessly with each other. Ohm Force's biggest music human-encyclopedia and resident smartass in his free time.
Cid Andrade Green Force
Marketing Communications. Every team is looking for a good brazilian player when the transfer season is open. Like his soccer colleagues, he brings up a lot of skill+smile+samba in his playground area!
David Robin Blue Force
Web Development. Despite being a longtime friend we needed several years to pick this space cowboy from the effervescent Internet market galaxy. Imagine someone who really looks like David Duchovny, with an everlasting childish sense of humour and web architecture power-skills. You've got it.
Franck Bacquet Yellow Force
He coordinates the projects and counts the money. He is also a top Warcraft player since 1995.
Jérôme Noël Ivory Force
Our top expert in music creativity and production.
Laurent de Soras Force Prune
Mad Genius. He wishes he could hate cats for a living, but has failed to find the appropriate business plan yet. So he codes when it's not snowing, and snowboard when it is.
Mathieu Lecarme Dark green Force
Developer. Responsible for the tough task of making the audio cores and user interfaces 'communicate' seamlessly with each other. Ohm Force's biggest music human-encyclopedia and resident smartass in his free time.
Raphaël Dingé Fuschia Force
Graphic User Interface expert and Mac OS Developer. He could spend hours talking about ergonomics and how an horizontal piano roll could be more intuitive. But it's just a normal guy, he snipes rare photographic cameras on eBay and sometimes has the same lunch menu for weeks, like everyone.
Vincent Birebent Mauve Force
Web admin and Customer Support Manager. If you mailed support @ ohmforce.com you have mailed him. He enjoys cracking bad jokes and play Worms and Moria
Thanks
Very special thanks go to Eric Gougaud, for his help and vision at the start of the project. He helped us do the Right
Thing (tm) and actually release our first product (nearly) on time.
Special thanks also for our former team member Vincent Frison (Orange Force). When the clock shows 3PM, some of us are still looking at the door for him to show up, like he usually did.
Big thanks to our interns Tiam, France Cestari and Laurent Rabesahala.
Big cheers to Ian Finney aka Gold Force for all the help/support, which goes far beyond his
acting talents.
Also finally, thanks in a chaotic order for Julien Boeuf, Hélène Zanni, Frédérique Boeuf, Clifton Cameron, Dominic
Reamonn, Aurélie Ribeiro, Brandon Tallent, Christian Puffer, Donny Yeh and Chris Ormsby.
